a collection of particularly beautiful verses that i like.

psalm 22:14-15
i am poured out like water,
and all my bones are out of joint.
my heart has turned to wax;
it has melted within me.
my mouth is dried up like a potsherd,
and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth;
you lay me in the dust of death.

psalm 63
you, god, are my god,
earnestly i seek you;
i thirst for you,
my whole being longs for you,
in a dry and parched land
where there is no water.

proverbs 24:26
an honest answer
is like a kiss on the lips.

ecclesiastes 7:4
the heart of the wise is in the house of mourning,
but the heart of fools is in the house of pleasure.

isaiah 45:9
woe to those who quarrel with their maker,
those who are nothing but potsherds
among the potsherds on the ground.
does the clay say to the potter,
‘what are you making?’
does your work say,
‘the potter has no hands’?

matthew 6:27
can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

luke 10:38-42
as jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named martha opened her home to him. she had a sister called mary, who sat at the lord’s feet listening to what he said. but martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. she came to him and asked, “lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? tell her to help me!”
“martha, martha,” the lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

romans 9:20
but who are you, a human being, to talk back to god? “shall what is formed say to the one who formed it, ‘why did you make me like this?’”

psalm 133
how good and pleasant it is
when god’s people live together in unity!
it is like precious oil poured on the head,
running down on the beard,
running down on aaron’s beard,
down on the collar of his robe.
it is as if the dew of hermon
were falling on mount zion.
for there the lord bestows his blessing,
even life forevermore.
